Mental Health Crisis Service

This service is offered to children, adolescents and adults who experience an intense period of instability that could affect their well being or put them at risk of suicide.  This could also include intense anxiety, distorted thinking, feelings of being out of control or unable to cope.

Who can call?
Individuals, families, friends, medical clinics, community support services, police can refer to the Crisis service.  Please call 896-2606 or 1-800-460-2110 ext.2606

What is the response?

  • After an initial phone contact, the person can be directed to the Emergency Room of the hospital if the situation is determined to be emergent (serious), or if a medical condition needs to be attended to.  After being seen by a doctor, the person would then meet with a Crisis Worker at the Emergency Room.
  • The person can be met at the Mental Health Clinic by a Crisis Worker for an urgent appointment.
  • Phone support can be provided for the person and/or the family.
  • Referral to psychiatry, therapy, community support is done according to the need of the person.
  • Timely short term intervention can help the person achieve a level of comfort and a healthy outcome.

Hours
The hours of operation may vary, but are typically:
Monday-Friday:  9:00am – 8:30pm
Saturday:          4:00pm – 8:30pm
