Today, health policies are focusing
on supporting mental health consumers in the community as they learn
to live with their illness. LakeCity provides support in the area
of employment. Through LakeCity, hundreds of mental health consumers
are working in one form of employment or another in a wide variety
of jobs. This includes full-time and part-time paid employment,
volunteer work and positions within our onsite business. We support
the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and welcome the opportunity
to be part of the recovery process.
Who
is Eligible?
- Minimum
age of nineteen
.
- Primary
Diagnosis of a mental illness.
How to Begin:
- Complete
the LakeCity Employment Services Referral form. We accept third
party and self referrals .
- Once
we receive your referral you will be called to meet with a counselor
for an intake interview.
- You
will be assigned a counselor to help you create and implement a
plan. Support is provided based on what you want.
What We Can Do:
- Help
with identifying what you want to do and can do. We can access a
variety of vocational assessment tools.
- Access
and support education and training.
- Create
resumes and cover letters, and prepare for interviews.
- Provide
job search support and help with locating and contacting employers.
- Provide
information how paid work will effect your benefits from Community
Services, CPP-D, or private insurance.
- Access
money for work related items and training.
- Set
up volunteer and training placements.
- Help
you get paid employment.
- Provide
follow along support to maintain your employment.
- Do work
site evaluations.
- Connect
you to community agencies that can provide additional services and
supports.
What We Can Do For the Employer:
- Find
the best match from our labour pool to meet your requirements.
- Access
training that a potential employee might need.
- Provide
a work site evaluation of potential employees at no cost to the
employer.
- Strive
to ensure a high level of work performance.
- Provide
ongoing support to clients and employers for as long as needed.
- ACAS
wage subsidy programs.
- Link
to other agencies: if we can't fulfill your need we can find someone
who can.
- Provide
free services.
